Blossom Song

Trailing dust,
Comet rust
And cobweb love.
Daffodils,
Window sill,
Battle-hardened,
Karmic loss.
Nothing’s the same,
Unembossed.

There is no greater joy
Alighting these belfries
In my heart,

My heart so forlorn,

Than cherry blossom,
Pink and reborn.

  1. Adding to my favorites. The second verse feels very soul-comforting classic to me and so uplifting with that blossom of new, sweet, gentle hope in contrast to the very cleverly crafted first verse, with its rainfall of cool, dismal imagery. My heart leaps up each time I read the “ending.” I’m happy that spring reached the narrator’s sill and soul.
